Minimally Invasive Surgery

What is minimally invasive surgery?

Minimally invasive surgery is an approach to surgery that relies on specialized equipment and tiny cameras that enable our physicians to perform complex procedures in small spaces using only minimal or no incisions. When it comes to gynecological issues, there are several approaches to minimally invasive surgery, including:

  • Vaginal,
  • Hysteroscopic,
  • Laparoscopic,
  • Robotic surgery

What are the most common types of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery?

Using minimally invasive techniques, our physicians are able to perform a number of procedures, including:

  • LEEP, the removal of abnormal cells from the cervix
  • Treatment of endometriosis
  • Endometrial ablation
  • Fibroid removal
  • Hysterectomy
  • Cyst removal
  • Tubal ligation
  • Diagnostic hysteroscopy and laparoscopy

In most cases these procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, so you’re free to return home on the same day.
